SnapCore designs and manufactures rugged edge platforms for AI, vision, tracking, and sensor data in the toughest real‑world environments.
SnapCore is an industrial technology manufacturer specialising in edge AI, computer vision, RFID and sensor monitoring systems, with deployments across tourism, construction, aquaculture, fisheries and environmental operations.
Behind that capability is a multidisciplinary team of hardware and software engineers, AI and data specialists, technicians and support staff who design, build and operate systems end to end, from concept and prototype through to fleet scale deployment.
Working from our high tech manufacturing centre in Nelson, the team covers mechanical and electronic design, enclosure and thermal engineering, networking, cloud software and machine learning, so customers can work with a single partner instead of coordinating multiple vendors.
This combination of people, facility and tooling allows us to rapidly iterate, test in real conditions and then manufacture robust products that keep performing in harsh environments where conventional IT and consumer hardware typically fail.
From our high tech manufacturing facility in Nelson, we design and build rugged hardware, software platforms and AI models that keep working in harsh coastal, alpine, hot desert, construction and industrial environments where conventional IT fails, giving customers a reliable foundation for real world monitoring and automation.
We provide end to end edge platforms that capture, process and deliver critical data from cameras, sensors and field devices in real time, so customers do not have to stitch together their own monitoring stack. SnapCore designs and manufactures industrial grade cameras, RFID and sensor platforms, then pairs them with custom software, networking, connectivity and cloud hosting to move data reliably from remote sites into secure dashboards and existing systems.
Our team delivers bespoke project design, including machine learning and computer vision models tailored to each environment, alongside turnkey time lapse and livestream solutions. Customers use SnapCore to livestream remote sites, automate monitoring and power AI analytics across tourism, construction, aquaculture, fisheries and environmental operations.
SnapCore designs and manufactures industrial‑grade hardware, from marine‑grade cameras to rugged sensor and RFID platforms, optimised for long‑term deployment in harsh coastal, alpine, construction and industrial environments. Our in‑house team covers mechanical, electronic and enclosure design, thermal management, power and connectivity, ensuring each device is engineered for real‑world conditions rather than lab benches. Prototyping, testing and certification are carried out alongside production at our world‑class manufacturing centre in Nelson, enabling us to move quickly from concept to repeatable, production‑ready units. With proven deployments across demanding sites, we also support customised variants for partners who need reliable, hardware built on a trusted platform.
Our software platforms connect field devices to the cloud, combining secure livestreaming, historical data capture, and remote management into a single, cohesive experience. We build dashboards, portals, and APIs that let customers embed live video on their own sites, track device status and health, configure settings remotely, and move AI‑generated insights into existing systems, reporting tools, and customer applications with minimal friction.
SnapCore’s AI engineering team develops computer vision and edge AI solutions that turn raw video and sensor feeds into actionable intelligence for niche, real world applications. Our strength is working in specialised environments such as aquaculture, fisheries, tourism, construction and environmental monitoring, where off the shelf models struggle and where accuracy, robustness and data sovereignty matter. With flexible models for instant, query based insight (SPOT) and high precision, custom trained detection (TRAIN), we support everything from rapid exploration and ad hoc analysis through to mission critical, regulated monitoring and long term automated reporting.
SnapCore’s story began in 2007, when the Rodley family founded Snap Information Technologies Ltd, combining Andrew’s technical expertise with Chris’s product and market focus and growing a small garage project into a recognised New Zealand innovator in live camera systems, electronic monitoring and AI‑powered video insight for sectors including tourism, fisheries and food processing.
In 2020, this work laid the foundation for Snap Group, a family of companies focused on real‑world monitoring and data, and in 2022 SnapCore was established to specialise in camera, RFID and AI manufacturing alongside complementary specialists Teem Fish Monitoring, Pinpoint Earth and Seaweave.
Today, SnapCore operates as a full scale industrial technology manufacturer, designing and delivering edge AI, vision, RFID and sensor platforms for customers in New Zealand and around the world. Together, Chris and Andrew have grown the company from an early live camera experiment into a broader technology platform that supports monitoring, AI and digital transformation across many different user applications and industries.
That success is driven by our multidisciplinary team of engineers, technicians, data scientists, software developers and support staff, who design, build and operate systems that work reliably in real conditions, not just in the lab, taking projects from concept and prototype through to fleet and network scale deployments. By working closely with customers in these sectors and other niche industries, the SnapCore team continually refines our hardware, software and AI models so they solve real problems and help organisations digitise the way they see and understand their operations, every day in the field.
Chris Rodley is the CEO and founder of SnapCore, leading the company’s vision to build camera technology that captures, analyses and connects visual data from some of the toughest environments on earth. Chris serves in leadership roles across the Snap Group, bringing together hardware, software and AI capabilities to help customers digitise their operations.
As co‑founder and Chief Technology Officer, Andrew leads the design and engineering of SnapCore’s camera platforms and supporting systems, ensuring they are robust enough for harsh marine and industrial environments while enabling advanced AI and data workflows. Andrew serves in engineering leadership roles across the Snap Group.
We help customers turn challenging, remote and high‑risk sites into reliable sources of live operational insight.
